Surroundings
B&B De Kleine Kolonel lies at the foot of the “Koningsbelten” and the “Haarlerberg”, two important hills of Nationaal Park de Sallandse Heuvelrug. We are surrounded by pastures, woods and undulating fields. Our neighbours are a herd of water buffalo who graze the wild meadows of the National Forest Preserve. The fields are also used to grow corn or grass. In summer traditional crops like barley and oats are harvested. Beautiful blue corn flowers can be found in these fields. In January members of the Royal Hunting Society ride by for the traditional horse and hound steeple chase. We offer you the opportunity to explore the National Park by horse and carriage. Every season of the year brings its own beauty and surprises.
National Park de Sallandse Heuvelrug
The National Park the Sallandse Heuvelrug lies on the border of the historic regions of Salland and Twente in the province of Overijssel, in the east of the Netherlands. The glacial hills rise 80 meters above the surrounding countryside. These hills are covered with green pastures, wild woodlands and heather and are home to the very last grouse in this part of Europe. Our Bed & Breakfast is located inside the National Park, on a 2km long dirt road outside the village of Haarle in the municipality of Hellendoorn. We offer an exceptional location in a truly rural setting. Our guests will experience nature in all its beauty.
